Today the digitalization has gone through the roof. People no longer work from eight-to-five nor they attend work at a set venue every day. There is no need to go to a foreign country to work if they have a lack of skills there. You can work from home, work remotely and more.
Desk jobs existed in early days as well. But people got up and went to another person’s desk to give a document. They walked up to a restaurant to have lunch or take a break. Employees gathered at a bar and engaged in light games such as darts or snooker. They also took the stairs before the invention of elevators. Technological development is not bad; however, it is affecting humans in very negative ways. Heart issues born out of inactivity have increased by 70% than a few decades ago. People seek help of Subiaco physio units to relieve their aches and pains started solely due to the laziness generated from using the tech gadgets and solutions far more than they are meant to.
Argument for the tech world
Some disagree with the statement that tech gadgets and technological development has solely led to human inactiveness. Their argument is that even when the world did not have so many solutions, people who were lazy, were so. That is the difference today; I am not a lazy person in general. Nevertheless, when I get busy with work, I do not think twice about using a food order app to order lunch or scan and send a document of which the original has to go to a colleague in another branch of the same company. Is it so wrong to use the technology which is freely and so efficiently available to us? Thing is, humans tend to take the easy way out most of the time. If they can, they are more comfortable in using a laidback way even though it is not good for their health. Another thing is they have given priority to career, social life and other extracurricular activities than their health. This is what has to be changed. People should understand what needs to be given precedence.
A very recent study had found out that due to looking down at their mobile phones all day, youngsters of this generation have horns forming at the back of their skulls. This is the level of evolution we are at now; if we tend to do something more and more, for a few generations, our bodies will get used to that and develop even unnecessary parts. If you are holding the head down and bunching up your shoulders all day hunched over a computer, it is una voidable that you get neck and back pain which is very common nowadays. Seek help of a better physiotherapist before you develop it to an acute pain making you unable to get up. Migraine, stress, social anxiety are some more common issues. If we do not imagine a way of getting out of these, the human race will be designed in a very different manner in years to come. Harnessing new technology for our own ease is the whole point of developing new gadgets. But we need to remember the limit of doing so.
